and research show that home births and birth center births are safe,
with fewer birth injuries, fewer infections, and fewer maternal and
neonatal deaths. They are also less stressful on the birthing mother and baby. - Mother is birthing in an environment that is comfortable, familiar, and free from the common stresses of the hospital.

There are risks and benefits to any place of birth! Many
risk factors for home births and birth center births can be detected
with good prenatal care, although complications can arise unexpectedly
during labor or delivery. Most of these can be dealt with safely at home or with transport to the hospital.

carry appropriate supplies and equipment with us to home births, as
well as keeping those supplies stocked at the birthing center. Midwives
are trained and prepared to respond in the event of an emergency, not
hesitating to transport if mothers or babies need medical attention.*

making the decision on where to birth your baby, keep in mind that
hospitals have policies and procedures about which, by their nature,
require individual comprises. Women and families need to educate themselves regarding the availability of options, including their benefits and risks.
